History of the Arthur Area Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC)

In an effort to unify local businesses and promote economic development in the Arthur Area, the Arthur Area Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) was formed in 2009 and consists of 15 local business owners/operators serving as the board of directors.

Loosely defining the “Arthur Area” as a seven-mile radius around the Village of Arthur, by-laws were drafted and adopted in July 2009 and the AAEDC was formed as an Illinois Not-for-Profit Organization. Since there are no members in the AAEDC, all funds are raised via investments and fund-raising. In June 2010 the AAEDC hired their first, and only, employee to fill the part-time position of Community Development Coordinator.  The CDC position became a full-time position in 2013. 

The AAEDC fiscal year beings on May 1st and ends on April 30th of each year, with the annual meeting of the AAEDC, and its investors, typically being held on the fourth Monday in April, annually. Board-of-directors meetings occur on the first Tuesday of each month, with meetings taking place at various business locations within the Arthur Area.

Revolving Loan Fund: The AAEDC operates a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) for any business located in the Arthur Area.  This is a low-interest short-term loan program for the purpose of creating and maintaining jobs.  The general process is for the interested business to contact us and complete a "pre-application" for the loan committee to review.  If the loan committee decides to pursue the business for the loan, additional information will be requested from the business.  If you are interested please contact us and we will guide you through the process.

Third-Party Contacts: We do several "third-party" contacts for Arthur Area businesses.  If you are seeking information concerning an "opportunity" in which you are interested please contact our office.  With the AAEDC being the "go-between" or "third-party" contact your identity and interests are protected until such time you determine to share that information with another interested party.

Meeting Host: The AAEDC will consult with your business to determine how you want to address an "opportunity" and/or share information with a specific target group.  After that consultation we will arrange meetings times, locations, dates and other details.  The AAEDC will go with you through the entire process until completion or a different direction is determined.

Consulting: The AAEDC has several experiences to share and will "listen" to your explanation of your situation.  We will offer questions, ideas, concerns and possible "next steps" for your business to grow.  This is a complimentary service of the AAEDC and can be accessed simply by giving us a call.
